Costa Mesa, CA [July 28, 2005]— Free Wheelchair Mission founder Dr.
Don Schoendorfer received a phone call last week from what first appeared to
be a friend playing a prank on him. The woman on the phone claimed to be calling
from the White House office of Faith- Based and community Initiatives in Washington
D.C. and wanted to schedule a significant meeting between Dr. Schoendorfer
and the President. Dr. Schoendorfer had to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't
dreaming, then hung up the phone and booked a flight to Washington D.C. His
scheduled meeting with the President and four other people to took place last
week.

The primary foundation for the meeting was to praise Free Wheelchair Mission
for doing excellent faith based work. The Orange County, CA based non-profit
organization's mission is to provide the transforming gift of mobility to the
physically disabled poor in developing countries. Free Wheelchair Mission goes
hand in hand with the White House faith based initiative and sparked the interest
of the President.
"President Bush wanted to hear directly about the Free Wheelchair Mission,
how we started, what we've accomplished, and our important goals," said Schoendorfer,
55 .Our meeting lasted about 20 minutes. I communicated our organization's
story to the President and then we conversed about more lighthearted topics
such as our common hobbies like jogging and cycling. The President was extremely
attentive when I was speaking and seemed genuinely interested in our organization's
mission. He told me our organization makes him proud to be an American, it
made me feel very blessed".
