November 2001

Highlights from some of our November activities:

  • Our Chinese manufacturing partners mailed photos of a different molded chair. This one is better suited for our needs. It positions the patient's center of gravity nearer the rear.
  • We are going to Angola on December 4. Two other brave souls are going with me: Dr. Bayer (our orthopedic surgeon board member) and Glenn Owen. Glen is a photojournalist. He wants to produce a film documentary of our mission in action. We will assist Jose Neto in distribution of 43 wheelchairs as Christmas presents.
axle, making it easier to tilt the chair and patient back on the rear wheels. This is a useful maneuver to clear obstacles in rough terrain. The new chair is also thicker, stronger, and of better quality. We expect to receive a sample soon.
  • Mariners Church has placed two wheelchairs in Mexico. We do not have a lot of details, and I hope to get some pictures from members of this mission.
  • I received our first questions from the IRS on our tax exempt 501 c3 application. The questions were easy to answer. I hope this will lead to an approval ruling shortly.

I received some new photos from Indra. She got one of our wheelchairs back in February.

She is doing well, and so is her wheelchair (as are the others I placed in India).

Indra is studying for the exams the government gives all people interested in attending school.

In an earlier card Indra sent me fingerprints of the other children in the Prema Vasam orphanage where she lives. Their names are written next to the prints. Selvyn is the founder of the orphanage.

It is great receiving cards and photos from those we help that make me want to work harder at solving the world's needs for mobility.

God bless,

Indra is also an artist.
Here is photo of the front of a card she made for me.
