We received a letter today from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS has determined that the Free Wheelchair Mission is exempt from federal income tax as an organization described in section 501 (c) (3).

We currently have fiscal sponsorships with three organizations: Bright Hope International, The Foundation for Christian Stewardship, and Mariners Church. Contributions directed to us through these three organizations were tax exempt, as these three organizations enjoy tax exempt status. Now that we have our own 501 (c) (3) determination, we can accept contributions directly. This also opens doors for us to apply for foundation grants.
