Merry Christmas!

Sorry we are two days late. My family and I just returned from Chile, where we helped give away wheelchairs as Christmas Presents.

Some news this week:

  • Two containers arrived in Chile.
  • Three containers are in transit and nine more are waiting final shipping arrangements.
  • We have over 1000 donations during the first three weeks of December, and over 800 of them are from new donors!
  • We made the front page of the Orange County Register Tuesday (12/21) with a 2 page article. You can see this article on our website.
  • 25,000 wheelchairs for Christmas. We can do this! Check out our website to see our progress.

This is a story that happened just three days ago, on Thursday, December 23 in a suburb of Santiago, Chile:Magalie in her new wheelchair

Magalie is 48 years old. She was born with the aid of forceps, and that resulted in both mental and physical retardation. When she first saw the wheelchair she started to squeal in delight. At first it was a little frightening, and then I realized it was coming from the sheer instantaneous joy she felt. She could not talk. Her sister Ines and brother Juan have looked after Magalie all these years. Magalie had not left her home for over eight years. I asked them were they would go on Magalie's first trip in her new wheelchair. Ines said she was going to take Magalie to church as soon as she could, so they could thank God for her new wheelchair, the best Christmas present she had ever received. As a result of your support, hundreds like Magalie in Chile and thousands around the world now have chances for better lives. They may not be able to go to church to thank God, but perhaps our simple gift will bring them closer to the meaning behind Christmas.
