This story comes from Father Winner in Chennai, India:Kuppammal and his new friend, his wheelchair

I am Kuppammal and I am 74 years old. I was deserted by my children and now live in an old age home. I am totally blind, and due to my illness and old age, I cannot walk. I have to depend on somebody to fulfill all my needs. Even before fulfilling, my first and most disturbing thought is, whom shall I ask to take me? These disturbing thoughts make me to feel depressed and I worry a lot. But, now I have found my new friend and companion, who is with me always, on whom I sit and move wherever I want.

Do you who the friend is? My friend is my “WHEELCHAIR”, which is offered to me free of cost. I am deeply grateful for this gift. My worries are gone. Now I can go to the garden, touch the softness of leaves and flowers. I can go to chapel and pray. I feel that my energy is doubled because of my friend: “the Wheelchair”.
