This
story comes from Dan Brose of World Relief, Zambia:
On
January 8, 2004 Marie Jeanne, Justine, and Rosetta (all sisters)
were standing in the back of a pickup truck. The driver
was inexperienced, which resulted in him colliding with a
large truck. All three girls were crippled, and none
of them will walk again.
When
Marie Jeanne was hit by a truck, all she could think
about was how her family would be able for pay for her
hospital bills when both of her parents were not healthy.
The accident broke her hip and her right leg, which causes
extreme pain when she tries to walk with crutches. Since
the accident her friends have been bringing her food
and she has not been able to go to school. She
was very, very excited about the wheelchair. The
wheelchair is less painful to sit in than any of the
chairs in the house, and now she can go to school and
spend more time with her friends. She loves to
learn about chemistry and medicine in school. “I
want to be a doctor in a hospital,” says Marie
Jeanne.
