Greetings and Happy Friday!

October 22, 2004

This story comes from Dan Brose of World Relief in Rwanda. We gave him 550 wheelchairs to distribute. Note our wheelchair kits in the background!

"Sunday Emmanuel is 33 years old and lives in Kigali, Rwanda. He is called “Sunday” because he was born on Sunday! Sunday got polio at the age of 14 years when he was in fifth grade; and stopped his studies. Then he started crawling on the ground like an animal. Now, he has a wheelchair, and this is what he says:

'It’s really a joy to move in my wheelchair to go to visit some close neighbors. At home, I iron my clothes; I cook food and wash my clothes. I also have a job! I am aware that there are people who are not disabled that don’t have a wheelchair or a job. Because of this, I rejoice in the Lord. I am not a beggar, and I don’t feel any inferiority complex from being disabled! Many think that people with paralyzed limbs are all beggars! Having paralyzed legs does not mean that I lack knowledge. To earn life, I use my brain in helping the technicians at this mobility center' ”!
