Greetings and Happy Friday!

July 30, 2004

Before you read this Friday's story, here is some great news.

We had our second annual event this last Tuesday. About 300 people attended, including Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, King of Ghana. It was a fantastic event, and in addition to spreading news about our accomplishments and our dreams, we raised well over $210,000! Stay tuned to our website for details and photos.

This story comes from Scaria of Kerala, India:

"A physically disabled boy was found abandoned in a long-distance train in Kollam, India. The boy was found sitting in the train alone and co-passengers took him to the train master. He is deaf, unable to walk and has severe disabilities, due to spinal damage. Some bread and two garments were all that were left with him-no name, no identity, not a thing to validate his existence. He was adopted by a charitable organization and he will receive a wheelchair because he's in an area where we have sent wheelchairs. A disposable child has now been given a life. There are no words to describe the sense of aching pain he must have felt when left by his family and the sense of disbelief when he was adopted by an agency which will care for him, and he'll have mobility. We express our thanks to Rotarians members of Simi Valley, California and the Free Wheelchair Mission. Without them we would have never reached this poor child. May God Bless America."

Our mission in India continues to be a blessing beyond words, because of the miracles a wheelchair performs.
