This story comes from Jef Mindrup: Prekash in his wheelchair

" I saw seven boys rolling towards us in their Free Wheelchair Mission wheelchairs. Each one was racing to be the first to say hello. The first to arrive was a smiling happy eleven year-old boy named Prekash. Prekash hardly ever stopped smiling or laughing. He caused all the rest of us to laugh as well. Prekash spoke with me through an interpreter, 'Before I had the wheelchair I was always crawling along the ground. I felt ashamed and shy. I had sores on my knees and toes. My arms and shoulders became numb and I hadn’t any strength left after crawling from one place to another. I had calluses on my hands and they became stiff. I was unable to hold on to a pencil.'

Prekash reports now that 'I feel free and can go outside to see the conditions of nature and can spend time with my dog Baksha.' Prekash's teachers report his grades have improved dramatically. He is now looking toward the distant future, after he completes his standard education he plans to get a degree in computer science. Without anyone’s prompting Prekash said, 'I am very grateful for those that were able to provide this wheelchair.' Despite a hard start in life, Prekash may now be one of the happiest boys in India."

God bless,
