Greetings and Happy Friday!

April 9, 2004

This story comes from Susan Shaw:

"We delivered wheelchairs to a small village on an island called Vatulele in Fiji. Our truck drove ahead of us and dropped the chairs off at the correct houses, and we followed behind on foot. We dropped the first chair to an elderly woman who couldn't walk. Each time we delivered another chair the procession of village people following us grew. About 15 minutes later, we stopped at a home with another elderly woman, about the same age as our first lady. As we left her, we turned around and noticed that the first woman had caught up and that both women were embracing and kissing each other from their new wheelchairs.Sisters shaking hands from their new wheelchairs
We learned that they were sisters! Even though our walk only took about 15 minutes, since their illnesses they never visited each other. It was just amazing to us that their inability to walk created such a distance when in fact they lived in close proximity.

Their affection and happiness was overwhelming."
