Greetings and Happy Friday!February 7, 2004 |
| I just returned from China, so this story is a day late. Alexandra's Story This week we have a story of the deeds of a seven-year old child and her heart for our ministry. Last December a young mother and lovely little girl, Alexandra, stepped up to the table we were manning at our church. Alexandra wanted to donate a wheelchair in her father's name. Her mom had a look of awestruck amazement and more than one of us at the booth teared up when witnessing this act of generosity. A few weeks ago we learned that Alexandra had more money for us, enough for two more wheelchairs. We arranged to meet one evening with Mom, Dad, and Alexandra. She carried a heavy, little, pink case, customized to say "Care for Each Other." Alexandra tapped any stashes of coins around the house, and used her personal savings and any other resources at her disposal. We gave her a baseball cap with our name. She immediately put on our hat. She told us she was going to wear it so that other children would ask her about what the hat said and she could maybe get them to donate. At the age of seven this amazing little girl has set a goal to give enough for one wheelchair per month. We are blessed to see the impact our mission had on this family - seeing their child carry forth their values, and to experience the blessing of this child's heart for others. We hope to continue to add new chapters to Alexandra's story. God bless, Don |
