Above & Beyond is historic, as it is the first time all 107 living Medal of Honor recipients have banded together to create a national platform to promote and honor “Service before Self.”  Every year the Above & Beyond Citizen Honors pays tribute to three civilian Americans who have made a difference in the lives of others through a singular act of extraordinary heroism, or through their continued commitment to putting others before themselves, without regard for personal gain. These are ordinary Americans who perform extraordinary acts of selfless courage, dedication, and sacrifice in civilian life, that, were they in uniform, would warrant consideration for receipt of the Medal of Honor.
